Big Country Educational Cooperative (BCEC) is a full-service education cooperative providing special education related services to five counties and their member school districts in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA):

Custer County:  Kircher School District #3, Trail Creek School District #13, Spring Creek School District #16, Kinsey School District #63, SY School District# 83, SH School District #86,

Garfield County:  Jordan Elementary and Garfield County High School District #1, Pine Grove School District #19, Ross School District #10, Kester School District 1123, Sand Springs School District #42, and Cohagen School District #

Rosebud County:  Rosebud Elementary and Rosebud High School District #12, Forsyth Elementary and Forsyth High School District #4,

Fallon County:  Baker Elementary and Baker High School District #12, Plevna Public School District #55,

Carter County:  Carter County High School and Ekalaka Elementary #15) in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Children in need of special education services are evaluated by a team of school and BCEC professionals. Special education assessments are an important first step in getting students with disabilities any help they need to become successful in school and eventually productive adults.

Once a student is identified as needing special education, BCEC staff members assist school personnel in developing and implementing individualized education plans {IEP) that allow students to learn and progress in school.

What are Special Education Related Services provided by the BCEC?
Related services are provided if deemed necessary for a child to benefit from his or her special education program.

Who are the Professionals employed by the BCEC?
The BCEC employs and contracts primarily Master's level trained specialists and shares them among the member school districts.  Positions include Resource Consultants, Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP), SLP Assistants, Audiologists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, School Psychologists, and Behavior Consultants.

BCEC Professionals provide screening, evaluation and direct service to students in the most inclusive school setting possible. Additionally, they provide consultation, technical assistance and training to parents, teachers, paraeducators and school administrators.
